Garden Study

About this work
Garden Study reveals an immersive field of botanical abstraction, composed entirely of meticulously layered puzzle pieces sourced and shaped over several months. In this work, the Artist advances her distinctive language of fragmentation and reconstruction, allowing glimpses of light to break through a thicket of chromatic foliage.
A vivid example of her signature style Garden Study is a definitive work in Maher’s evolving practice: memory rendered as landscape, fractured, tactile, and alive. Each puzzle piece is wholly unique, hand-sourced from archival material or reimagined imagery, and recontextualized to form a cohesive, living composition.
Rendered in lush greens with flashes of vermilion, violet, and gold, the work invites close observation. Intimate in scale, Garden Study radiates a quiet power, drawing the viewer into its intricacies from across the room. It is a meditation on the way we remember: not as a single image, but as a constellation of fragments, slowly coming into focus.
Its layered complexity reveals new subtleties with each encounter. Created over the course of four months, this is one of the artist’s most enriching pieces. Showing fragments placed with deliberate precision. As with all of Maher’s puzzle pieces, no two are alike, and no configuration can ever be replicated.
As Maher’s recognition continues to grow, works of this scale and significance from this period will become increasingly rare. For collectors who value innovation and emotional depth, Garden Study represents not only an artwork but a statement of refined vision, and alignment with a once-in-a-generation voice.

About the Artist
Born (April 11, 1995) MERE is a contemporary artist best known for creating intricate puzzle-based artworks that embody the tension between order and chaos, beauty and decay. Through a process that takes months of searching, sorting, and assembling, each original is made from singular, non-repeating puzzle pieces many from historic or iconic imagery reimagined to create a meditation on perfection, time and memory. She describes developing the process from a dream she had where non-interlocking puzzle pieces formed images.
Her work explores themes of connection, fragmentation, and wholeness, often using discarded elements to reveal something new. No two works can ever be replicated, making each piece not just a visual experience, but a modern artifact of this time.
Working at the intersection of sculpture and painting, MERE has coined the term Puzzlism to describe her technique: a practice rooted in precision, intuition, and emotional truth.
Her works have gone viral across platforms and have been shown in museums, New York Exhibitions and juried shows. Her work resides in private collections in 8 different countries. Each original carries within it a story of renewal and transformation.
